Private Whois
How to make yourself anonymous in domain searches by activating Whois Privacy
How to hide your Whois information
GDPR
With the introduction of the RGPD (General Data Protection Regulation) legislation in Europe, all personal information is hidden in the Whois, especially the First Name and Last Name of the owner (for an individual) of a domain name.
For more information, please refer to this page: https://news.gandi.net/en/2018/05/gdpr-and-whois/
It should be noted that the information of a company, association or public administration is not affected by this legislation and therefore remains visible.
Hidden Whois Data
This option, activated by default, allows you to hide your personal data in Gandi's public Whois database (except your region and country, your anonymized email address (see below), and the name for an individual, by replacing them with the mention "Redacted for privacy".
By deactivating this option, you expressly consent to the publication of your personal data in the public Whois database. You can withdraw your consent at any time by reactivating the hidden Whois option.
To activate/deactivate this option for a domain name, go to the DOMAIN menu and click on the domain in question.
In Domain Contacts in the top menu (Tabs), click on 'Edit information' under the contact to be modified.
Scroll down the page until you see "Personal data privacy".
There is a "toggle" to activate/deactivate this option. When it is activated, it is displayed with a white "ticked" mark on a purple background. When the option is deactivated, the switch is greyed out. Save to finalize the operation.

This anonymized email address automatically redirects messages to the email address that you have declared in our database.
If you deactivate this option, your email address will be displayed unencrypted in the Registry database. If you want your email address to be published in the public Whois database, you must also deactivate the hidden Whois option.
To activate/deactivate this option for a domain name, in DOMAIN, click on the domain in question.
Click on "Domain Contacts" in the menu at the top of the page (Tabs) then Edit information under the contact to be modified. Scroll down the page until you see "Hidden email privacy".
