Where to find the authorization code for a transfer
An authorization code (also called "transfer code", "authorization code", "EPP code" or "auth code") is a code provided by your current registrar when you want to transfer your domain to another registrar. If the domain name requires an authorization code, you will be asked for it during the transfer operation to your new registrar.
Please note:
Only contacts with the necessary permissions, such as the owner or the administrative contact, can access this code.
You can find it in the DOMAIN / Transfer out menu in the top right-hand corner.
Special cases:
Not all extensions require an authorization code, and some do not make it available via the website. For .BE domains, for example, it is sent by email by the registry itself. In the case of .NL domains, it must be specifically provided by the registrar (Gandi in this case) upon request. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us support-en@support.gandi.net.
.uk, .co.uk, .org.uk and .me.uk domains do not require an authorization code. Instead, Nominet uses an IPS tag (Internet Provider Security tag, Nominet Provider tag, IPS key or registrar tag) to identify the registrar in charge of managing the domains in question. When transferring any such domain, you first need to change GANDI's IPS tag to the one of your new registrar (a list is available on the tag change page).
To change the tag of a .UK :
Log into your account.
In the DOMAIN / Transfer out menu, enter the TAG provided by your new registrar in the "New TAG for your domain" field and click on "Change registrar".
How to enable / disable domain transfer protection
Most extensions offer a transfer lock (a special status in the Whois that appears as "transferProhibited") to prevent unwanted transfers. As long as this "lock" is activated, transfer is not possible.
Note
Not all extensions support transfer locking. For example, most two-letter country extensions such as ".mx" or ".fr" do not offer this option.
Only the owner or the administrative contact can unlock a domain.
Unlocking your domain(s)
To unlock ONE domain
From the DOMAIN / Transfer out menu.
You can deactivate the Transfer Lock by clicking on the " toggle " icon to the left of the " Transfer Lock ". The switch is purple when activated, and gray when inactive.
To unlock MULTIPLE domains
In the DOMAIN menu, switch to Advanced View (on the right).
Check the boxes to the left of the domains you want to unlock.
Click [ ፧ Configure] to open the menu, then click " Transfer Protection " in the menu at the bottom of the page. Select the action (set or remove) in the window that opens and click on submit to save your preference.
