Secondary DNS server
Does Gandi provide a secondary DNS server?
Every domain name must be managed by at least two separate DNS servers, to ensure it functions properly in the event that one of them should fail. The two (or more) name servers are identical and have the same information about the domain. Statistically, all requests are shared between them at all times.
However, when a change is required (e.g. to the IP address of a website), it is carried out only on one of the servers: the one set up as primary. The other servers in the domain, known as secondary servers, will update themselves automatically, without any explicit human intervention.
If you only have one DNS, Gandi offers a secondary DNS, at no extra cost (you only pay for the domain name).
From the Domain page, select your domain.
In the "Name servers" menu, click on "Edit".
All you need to do is add the following name server (secondary):
ns6.gandi.net
Following your validation, our DNS server will update itself automatically (if the primary server is correctly configured). It will be active for the domain no later than 2 hours after you make the change. It periodically synchronizes with the first server in the list.
Note: If you encounter an error with the zonecheck (AFNIC, DENIC, or other), we invite you to relaunch the update an hour later.
