What is a PTR record?
A PTR record is used as a "reverse DNS", i.e. it provides the domain name or hostname corresponding to an IP address. An A record, on the other hand, provides the IP address corresponding to a URL or domain name.
When should I use a PTR record in my DNS?
A PTR record is used for reverse DNS. It is managed at server level, not at domain level. It is generally used when you host your own DNS or email server. It is used to verify the identity of the server that sent the email.
