Set up your mailbox: steps and configuration
To follow the steps in this article, you must first have created your mailbox.
For your mailbox to work (so you can send and receive emails), you need to correctly set up the associated domain (the part after the “@”).
To help you, we’ve added a “Status” tab on the mailbox details page, accessible from the Email menu.
- MX, SPF, and TXT records are required for all mailboxes linked to a domain to work.
If you can manage your domain registered with Gandi, technical validation will be done automatically. The previous mail configuration (MX) will then be replaced by the new one.
If this is the case, the “Status” tab will turn entirely green.
If this is a domain:
- registered with Gandi but uses external nameservers (from another hosting provider),
- for which you do not have management rights, or
- is not registered with Gandi.
Then, the “Status” tab will turn entirely orange.
By clicking “Add,” you’ll see the technical records you need to send to your hosting provider or configure with your domain registrar. (If needed, contact the person who manages your website or your domain’s technical settings.)
Here are the mandatory records to add to your domain: without them, the service will not work.
There are other records to add: they are not required, but they help your emails work better and reduce the risk of being flagged as spam.
Finally, you can enable our anti-spam service: once activated for one mailbox, it will automatically apply to all mailboxes on the domain.
