Common operations for the Mail service
Go to the Domain name / Mailboxes & forwarding menu
Check DNS records
Your domain name must use Gandi's MX records:
@ 10800 IN MX 10 spool.mail.gandi.net.
@ 10800 IN MX 50 fb.mail.gandi.net.
@ 10800 IN TXT "v=spf1 include:_mailcust.gandi.net ~all"
Important:
GandiMail does not allow the creation of subdomain email addresses. You will therefore not be able to create an email address such as name@mail.example.com.
Create an email address
Go to the Domain name / Email menu and click on "Buy more".
In the mailbox creation form, choose the type of mailbox you want, a Standard mailbox (10 GB) or a Premium mailbox (50 GB). Then select the renewal frequency (monthly or yearly) and add the order to your shopping cart.
When you've paid for your mailbox you will create the email address for it:
- mailbox: specify the first part of the address, which comes before the "@" sign. Do not use accented characters, and keep in mind the only special characters recognized worldwide are the hyphen ("-") and the dot (".").
- Password: choose a fairly complex password http://passwordsgenerator.net/
- Alias: this field is optional and allows you to create aliases (variants) of the chosen address.
Once you've accepted the specific contract and validated the form, your mailbox will be created in a matter of seconds.
You'll be able to access your addresses via one of our webmails or your email application (generally called a "mail client").
Optional aliases
You can also create optional aliases for your email address. An alias is an "alternative" email address for your main email address, which will redirect emails sent to this alias into your mailbox. See https://docs.gandi.net/en/gandimail/forwarding_and_aliases/index.html
