Purging all emails
How to delete all your emails from a mailbox
You can use a GandiMail account's "purge" function to delete all messages currently in the mailbox. This could be necessary to remove all the messages from a mailbox and recover its maximum storage capacity, or if, after a change of owner of the domain name, you transfer the mailbox in question to a third party (or even only its use) and you don't want this third party to be able to access your old emails. Once the mailbox has been purged, you'll be able to use it again as normal, and no settings will be changed.
Note
Purging a mailbox also deletes any folders and sub-folders you may have created for it.
If you wish to delete the email address in question entirely in order to create a new one, simply delete the mailbox:
https://docs.gandi.net/en/gandimail/common_operations/purge_email.html
This operation will also destroy all the emails stored in that mailbox.
To purge a mailbox, follow these steps:
- Go to the Domain menu / Email tab
- Click on the mailbox in question, or on the 3 dots on the right (፧) and choose "Manage".
- At the bottom of the page click on "Purge" in the "Purge all your emails" block.
- Confirm deletion by clicking the [Purge] button again.
- A few moments later, all your emails will have been deleted and the inbox will be empty.
Important
This operation is irreversible. Make sure you have saved a "local" copy of the emails if you intend to keep them:
